BLANCA CHAROLET
Blanca Charolet (Chahuites, Oaxaca 1953). She began her career as a Photographer, in 1967. Self-taught. First female photojournalist of a Mexican Newspaper. From 1977 to 1982, she was an official Photographer in the Presidency of the Mexican Republic. In 1983, she established her own studio, focusing her work on the portrait of personages of the show and personalities from the political, intellectual, cultural and scientific spheres of Mexico. She has participated in 73 books published in México and abroad. Highlights, in 2005, the publication of her book Henestrosa, The other Andrés: mine, edited by Miguel Ángel Porrúa; In the Depth Memory, Women of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana, in 2014, CONACULTA/INBA. She has presented 83 individual exhibitions and participated in 207 national and international exhibitions. She has distinguished with 21 recognitions, among them: “The Woman of Time Statuette”, granted by the Civil Association WOMEN OF OAXACA NAVIGATING IN TIME; International Women's Day, Telmex 2008; Goddess of light; PROMAX & BDA, Canal Once. The Cosmic Man, 2005. She entered as a member of the SALÓN DE LA PLÁSTICA MEXICANA, in 2006. In 2005, she was selected in the Sixth Biennial of Ibero-American Photojournalism, Culture and Entertainment. In 2002, Blanca Charolet was selected in the 1st Photography Biennial of Mérida, Yucatán. Since 2010, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the SALÓN DE LA PLÁSTICA MEXICANA. Since 2002 she chairs the Xquenda Cultural Association.
