Particularly in Oaxaca, the indigenous arts are a very important factor of the economy and the market. They form an essential role in Oaxacan society, which provides income to many families. However, as professionals who have had the opportunity to get in touch with the world of artisanal creation, we have seen great deficiencies in the systems of promotion and dissemination of the crafts they make in this southern state. At present there are several channels that make the products known to the world, but in most cases only to commercialize them in a massive way, without respect to the creators, their motivations or the richness and depth of the tradition that base that creation. Therefore, we are interested in disseminating the works, we want to bring the world to the wonder of creative processes with all their emotional, cultural and social, and especially support the preservation of the knowledge and meanings that each artisan and craftsman plasma in their works, because we have known closely that the most important value that an artisan confers on each of his pieces is to preserve and make known the characteristic elements of their culture. In this way, we want to be a tool of diffusion and support for the preservation of the traditional foundations of popular art, and contribute to the recognition of the great value that it possesses. We seek, with this research work and the photographic and video that complements it, to help protect —through electronic media— the rich heritage that makes up traditional and contemporary handcrafts.
